Sow Depth: The Right Depth to Sow Seeds
This is a question most first-time growers frequently ask: what is the right depth to sow seeds?
Most seed packets and instructions will give the answer in millimeters (mm).
For example, in our Basil Grow Kit, you will find the sow depth to be 2-3mm. Different seeds require different sow depths.
Now, you don't actually need to bring out a ruler with you to measure 2-3 mm if you want to grow basil.
All you need to remember is this: the right depth to sow seeds is approximately the seed's diameter.
In other words, you cover the seeds with soil approximately the height of the seed itself.
